MacIntosh Installation Instructions


What You'll Need:

A 68030 Macintosh or better (System 7.1 or higher) with 4 to 5 megabytes of free hard disk space.
A modem (14.4K or higher), or a connection to a LAN (local area network).
At least 8MB of memory (16 recommended).

* BITS recommends 16MB memory and at least a 28.8 modem for the best access. Any thing less will not truly represent the service.

 

Configuring Microsoft Internet Explorer

It is as easy as inserting the Internet Explorer disk and Clicking an Icon!
1. Insert the Microsoft Internet Explorer Disk 1 into the floppy drive.
2. Double Click the Installer Icon.
3. Follow the instructions on your screen.
4. You may be prompted to restart your computer.

After you install Internet Explore, you are ready to start setting up your computer for the Internet. The Internet Connection Wizard will help you set up your account.

1. If the Internet Connection Wizard is not running, double-click the Internet Connection Wizard icon in the Internet Connection Wizard folder.
2. Read the Welcome information, and then click Next.
3. Select "Manual" as the type of installation you want the Connection Wizard to perform.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen.

If you encounter problems making an Internet connection, check all of the connections between your computer, modem, and telephone line. Make sure all three elements have power. If problems persist see "Troubleshooting" later in this book.

Configuring Netscape Navigator

If you have purchased a registered version of Netscape Navigator you should follow the instructions given to you in the book accompanying the software.

Always choose "Manual" as setup type, and enter information from the configuration sheet at the beginning of this book.

If you encounter problems making an Internet connection, check all of the connections between your computer, modem, and telephone line. Make sure all three elements have power. If problems persist see "Troubleshooting".
